After you have met the needs of your family, you may like to leave a gift in your will to help provide for the healthcare of future generations.

Leaving a gift in your Will is a wonderful way to help continue the charity’s work. It is relatively easy to do, it will be free from inheritance tax, and it doesn’t cost a penny during your lifetime. If you don’t make a will, the State could decide what happens to your possessions when you die, regardless of your wishes.

Up to half of the donations we receive come from legacies and they really are a vital source of income for improving the facilities and enhancing the patient experience.

Thanks to legacies, in recent years we have donated £25,000 towards equipping  a second Cardiac Catheter Suite to offer a 24/7 service to cardiac patients and we’ve purchased many items of state of the art medical equipment for the Intensive Care Unit and Spinal Surgery to name only a couple of areas within the hospital. Legacies for the Children’s Hospital have enabled us to enhance the new Children’s Emergency Department and also create a new area for patients to be assessed so they don’t need to go through the stress of being admitted to a Children’s ward.

Matron Anne Denness said “Legacies have made a huge difference to the Children’s Emergency Department and they will continue to help poorly children and their parents for many years to come”.
